Terms of Service

Last updated: April 11, 2026

These terms govern your use of readme.speedrun.com. By using the service, you agree to them. They are short on purpose.

What the service does

readme.speedrun.com helps you create a personal portfolio website using AI. You provide career information through a chat interface, select a template, and we generate a portfolio page for you. Optionally, you can receive weekly job alert emails and opt in to share your profile with hiring teams at a16z portfolio companies.

The service is free

readme.speedrun.com is currently free to use. We reserve the right to introduce paid features in the future, but we will never charge you without clear notice and your explicit consent. If we introduce pricing, existing free portfolios will remain free.

Your content

You own your data. The career information you provide, the bio we help you write, and the portfolio we generate for you are yours. You can use your generated portfolio however you want — host it elsewhere, modify it, share it.

One requirement: generated portfolios must retain the "made by speedrun" footer attribution. This is a small link in the footer of your portfolio. You may style it to match your portfolio, but you may not remove it entirely.

License you grant us: by using the service, you grant us a limited license to store and display your portfolio content in order to provide the service (hosting, previewing, matching you with jobs). This license ends when you delete your account.

AI-generated content

Your portfolio is generated using AI (Anthropic's Claude). This means:

We encourage you to review your bio and proof points carefully. The AI writes well, but it only knows what you tell it.

Job listings

Job listings shown in the service and in email alerts are sourced from public career pages of a16z portfolio companies. We scrape and match these programmatically.

Acceptable use

Do not:

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms. We will try to warn you first unless the violation is severe.

Talent network

If you opt in to the a16z talent network, your profile (name, bio, skills, career highlights) may be shared with hiring teams at a16z portfolio companies. This is entirely optional and requires your explicit action. You can opt out at any time by contacting us or using the deletion endpoint.

Opting in does not guarantee that any company will contact you. We facilitate introductions; we do not make hiring decisions.

Service availability

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time, with or without notice. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give you at least 30 days to export your data.

We do our best to keep the service running, but we do not guarantee uptime or availability. The service is provided "as is."

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, speedrun and a16z are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to: lost job opportunities, inaccurate AI-generated content, service downtime, or data loss.

Our total liability to you for any claim related to the service is limited to $100 USD.

Dispute resolution

If you have a dispute with us:

  1. Talk to us first. Email jmazer@a16z.com and we will try to resolve it in good faith.
  2. If that doesn't work, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration under the rules of JAMS, conducted in San Francisco, California.
  3. Class action waiver: you agree to resolve disputes individually, not as part of a class action.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top and notify active users by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
